Life is not easy. I know you’re saying “Big Surprise” – but the reality is everyone faces challenges. So the question becomes how do we push through to success in spite of the challenges we face every day. The answer might surprise you, but it is having gratitude.
Yes, sometimes, when you car battery is dead in the morning, or your computer tanks, or you have a family member who is having health issues, it is hard to always think about being grateful. But no matter what is going on in life, there is always something. I know when I got laid off unexpectedly and my house was on the verge of foreclosure and I wasn’t sure how even the electricity would be paid to keep the lights on, I didn’t feel very grateful. But I had my health and the motivation of my wife and children to keep me going and for that I was grateful. I didn’t know that the greatest opportunity of my life would show up and that Angie and I would embark on a journey that would change our lives for the better forever.
The first thing you have to realize about running a successful Network Marketing business is that if you want to grow your team, you HAVE to prospect. The people who truly make a living in the Network Marketing profession learn quickly that the more people they know, the more people join their business.
The important thing to do first is to make sure you have time blocked out on your calendar specifically for this. If you just vaguely attempt to meet someone on line in the supermarket or at Starbucks, you will find that you really don’t meet too many new people at all. But if you really make a point to add this into your schedule each week, you will find that your business grows much faster.
So where do you meet new people?
Meetup is a gem in the meeting new people arena. There you will find groups on just about any interest you might have. Whether you are into hiking, vegan cooking, wine tasting, travel, or book clubs and more, Meetup has something for everyone. When you join a group, you have the opportunity to meet many new people.
Do you want to learn to cook? Learn to paint? Taking classes can not only add a new skill to your repertoire, they can also give you the opportunity to meet other like minded people.
Many people meet new friends in a yoga or spin class.
If you belong to a church, get involved. You will see your circle of friends grow quickly.
If you can find ways to donate your time, very often you will meet many people that have a heart for changing lives. Think of things you like to do and how that can become an opportunity to give back. Habitat for Humanity is an excellent example. People who volunteer are often the most successful in Network Marketing because they truly understand the impact of making a difference.
I hate to bring up Politics anywhere, but if you have a passion for politics, you can really meet some like minded people at Political Groups. Just do a search, you will easily find them in your area.
Do you like to play games? Why not start a Bunco group? Or a Mom’s play group? A Dad’s poker night? Sometimes neighborhood groups can be a huge jumpstart for your Network Marketing business.
There are many networking groups out there. Some are better than others. For Network Marketing, you may want to stick with a more Entrepreneurial minded group than a B2B type group.
Nothing brings people together like pets. Especially dogs. A dog will break the ice with anyone for you! Take your furry pal to the local doggy park and see how many new friends you can make.
Not only can conferences teach you new skills for your business and fuel your fire to grow your business fast, but they are wonderful places to meet new people.

Here we are in November. It is hard to believe that 2013 is coming to a close. It seems like just yesterday the year was new and there was the freshness of what we all feel in January – the hope and promise of what is to come.
But now, we have only 2 months left and you may be looking at 2013 and wondering what happened to your goals for 2013? Was the year everything you thought it would be?
The reality is, whether you have achieved most of your goals or not, there are still 2 months left to finish the year strong. A lot of times, people just shut down during November and December and think “I will start over next year.”
What happens by doing that is you set up your new year without momentum. If you take advantage of the next 8 weeks, not only will you finish 2013 strong, but you will also be setting 2014 up for better success.
Being in a great company like Team Beachbody, at this great time, you can make a huge difference in your business by realizing this is a prime opportunity to create retail sales and to help your team grow.
Network Marketing is in a unique time in our history because there is a lot wrong with our economy. While most people don’t have the ability to create more opportunity and income at a J-O-B, those of us in Network Marketing have the ability to create freedom and the ability to create the lifestyle we truly desire.
In the past, a person might have been thought to be successful if they had a lot of possessions. I believe our society really got caught up in “keeping up with the Joneses.” That lead to overspending, going into debt and leading a false life. I think going forward, the mark of a great person will be someone who is debt free and leading a life of freedom, not necessarily someone who has a lot of stuff. Not that having some of the finer things in life is wrong, but that won’t be the main focus.
In no other profession can you create the same level of freedom on a part time basis as any person can in Network Marketing.
So if I can encourage you to do anything today it is to put as much energy and time into the rest of the year as you possibly can. Too many people slow down with marketing their business during the holidays. They end up losing 2 months out of the year.
Professionals don’t do that. They create strategies to maximize this time.
Think of stores, how they have sales, they merchandise, they run ads. Here is my challenge to you:
From now until dec 23 people are ready to buy things. They are either going to buy it from the mall, they will buy it online, or they will buy it from you.
Give the gift of health for your friends and family and encourage them to do the same through your business. Remember the biggest buying time of the year is ahead.
Two huge selling days are ahead: Black Friday & Cyber Monday. If you’re going to buy anyway – why not have people get what they need from you.
How to help your team: Have a meeting or call and encourage your team to take this time to review what did they learn in 2013 and what do you want to achieve in 2014. Have them take out their calendars and commit to the time they will spend specifically on their business.
Successful people constantly have to grow, change, and adapt. Show that you want to finish 2013 strong and have this year be remembered as a great one for your business. Then you will be ready to start a brand new year out with momentum. Finish strong – Start strong.

It’s time to put your health and fitness FIRST!
As a top income earner with Team Beachbody, I’ve had the opportunity to experience first hand how incredible the Beachbody business is. Running a home business with Team Beachbody, my wife and I have had the opportunity to help people change their health with the premier home fitness workouts we offer as well as the best meal replacement on the planet – Shakeology. That is an incredible way to build a business – helping people change their health and fitness.
My story is pretty typical for the economic downturn. I got laid off in 2007 and my family’s entire financial future was at stake. With my back against the wall, I found out about Team Beachbody’s home business opportunity and I decided that this was going to be our future.
We began building our Beachbody business. My wife and I worked tirelessly for months building our team. We talked to anyone and everyone that needed help with their health and fitness or people who wanted a chance to have financial freedom.
It didn’t happen overnight, but with consistency and hard work, we built a team of thousands and within three years crossed the threshold of being one of Beachbody’s first few 7 figure earners. Today I want to talk to you about training a new distributor. Here at Team Beachbody, we call our distributors, “coaches.” Starting a new distributor in your business is vital to the growth and development of your team.
I have been in network marketing for many years. Angie and I are fortunate to have a team of thousands of incredible people. But there are many people who come and go in this profession and never really learn the true value that can be found in the freedom that comes if you are willing to work hard and put the time in.
Team member development is a BIG part of being successful in network marketing. Knowing how to train your team is key to being the best leader you can be.
That means teaching your new coach how to find information, instead of always being the one to answer questions. Make sure they know where things are in the back office. That also means providing some basic steps to learning the business. You also want to help your new coach achieve their first wins with retail sales and signing his or her first new coaches as well.
1. Talk: One of the key first steps is to schedule a time to talk to your new coach. Spend some time asking important questions about goals, dreams, what makes them tick. Take time to LISTEN. Figure out what motivates your new coach. Once you have that information, you can help your new coach lay out a plan to help achieve his or her goals.
2. Ask yourself: Would you want to be sponsored by you? What are the things you would have wanted or what did you learn from your sponsor that you truly appreciated. Sometimes I have seen people overcompensate with their new distributors because they didn’t get what they had hoped for from their own sponsors. Remember, you can’t want it for them. You can only show them the way and allow them to then do the work to get where they want to go.
3. Go through their calendar: Very often, if this is someone’s first time running a home business, they may not be good at managing their time. This is where you can really help out. Go through each day and have them block out the time they will devote to building their business. Teach them to discuss with their family the time they will be devoting to the business so they don’t get interrupted.
4. Personal Development: Always get your new coaches off on the right foot by recommending Eric Worre’s book Go Pro – How to Become a Network Marketing Professional. Then, you can recommend other great personal development books like Think and Grow Rich, The Greatest Salesman in the World, or The Compound Effect.
It doesn’t take much to help your new team members get off the ground. Then you can simply lead by example and be there to encourage them. Over time, you will see your new distributor grow and develop into a great leader too. It all begins with you and the time you put in at the very beginning.

Now, as the month ends, I want to recap the importance of talking to as many people as you can about your business.
Here is something I want you to always remember:
If you will just make a point of asking everyone you know if they or someone they know are interested in running a home based business, you will be amazed at the results. It’s simple statistics folks. The more people you ask, the more who will say no…BUT the more who will say yes as well!
That doesn’t mean you just go up to everyone you know and say “Will you join my business?” You DO want to ask that at some point, but first you must listen to everyone on your list. Ask them about their lives. Ask them about their dreams and goals. Learn what they really need in their lives. Then teach them how you can give them a solution that will help them achieve those goals.
Here’s the deal. You will NOT be successful in your business unless you get over your fear of inviting others to join you. In order to make significant, life changing money in network marketing, you HAVE to reach as many people as you can. You have to be comfortable with the “Nos” you are going to get. You have to grow a team and teach those people to do the same.
In this business you have to become fearless. You have to stop worrying about what others think about you. You just need to know that you have a duty to yourself and your family to be successful. You also want to show as many people as you can to do the same.
Remember always you are a business owner. You want to have professional discussions. Be proud that you are part of a profession that is changing the face of the way we do business in this world. If you think about it, we are going back to the days when you shopped on Main St. It used to be you knew all the shop owners and you purchased products from the shop owners you had the best relationships with.
As legendary business coach Jim Rohn said, “Profits are better than wages… Profits make you rich… Wages make you a living.” If you have too much month at the end of your money – then you owe it to yourself to take out all stops – forget the things you think are holding you back and get out there, and do what it takes to make a difference for you and your team.
Anyone and I mean ANYONE can expand their circle of influence. Don’t say “I don’t have a big circle of friends.” Well GET one! How can you do that? There are many ways. You can join local Meetups (see Meetup.com)- and make new friends doing activities you enjoy! One of my best recruits joined a wine tasting group that ended up being an incredible source of friendships AND business partners in her downline! You don’t have to necessarily do activities that go hand in hand with your business. If you love to hike, join a hiking group, if you want to learn to cook, join a cooking group. The point is, you have to meet new people each day. On the days you can’t get out, make it a point to join or interact in a virtual group on facebook, linkedin, or google groups. Expand your circle of influence.
Make a point to call 2-3 people each day with the intent of asking about that person’s life. Don’t go into a conversation talking about your new business, take a genuine interest in each person you talk to. Preface the conversation with a time limit: “Hi Andy, I am on my way out the door, but you’ve been on my mind so I thought I would call you really quickly to see how you are doing.” Leave that conversation with a set time to check in again which will lead to Step 3.
Watch this video by Eric Worre for scripting. You will learn exactly what to say when asking someone to watch a DVD or a YouTube video. Ask specifically for feedback and honest opinions.
See the progression. 2,2,2,2… Add 2 people to your circle of influence, call 2 people to strengthen a relationship, ask 2 people to watch a presentation, invite 2 people to join you… When you have a steady stream of people you are contacting and communicating effectively with, you will have enough people join your business to grow significantly each month. The reality is, most people don’t realize these are the steps they must take so they flounder, wait around not really knowing how to grow their business. It really couldn’t be more simple – it just takes about an hour to two hours a day – PART TIME hours – to grow a significant business.
This doesn’t have to just be your personally sponsored people. In fact, very often someone who is 8 levels down will be VERY happy and surprised to hear from someone that cares. You can’t control how well each person on your team trains their new distributors – so jumping saying hello and offering encouragement can be very helpful both to your downline and their new recruits.
There you have it – the Network Marketing Rule of Two! If you spend an hour or two each day doing these steps you will find that you quickly build a robust and strong business AND you will model this for your team to do as well!
Today I want to continue talking about recruiting. I have been teaching my team how important recruiting is for any network marketing professional. I believe that our business has lost sight of what it actually takes to create freedom and wealth. There has been a lot of talk about how people don’t want to approach their friends and family with their business. There has been a lot of talk about not wanting to go out and prospect. There has been a lot of talk about what people don’t want to do period. I say then those people don’t WANT to have a successful business.
This business takes discipline and hard work. Anyone that tells you that this is an easy business, isn’t being truthful. You have to be willing to commit to working your business every single day for 3-5 years. You have to be willing to make mistakes, to fail, to feel uncomfortable. You have to be willing to meet new people every single day – not to attack them about your business, but to expand your circle of influence.
Next, I’m going to talk about how to find new people every day to add to your personal database of contacts. But first, you have to decide that you are willing to do the work it takes to have a successful business. Take some time today to do some soul searching. Are you willing to change the way you look at your business? Are you willing to become a professional and to put the time and energy into your future? When you can honestly commit to doing whatever it takes, then you are ready to begin doing the tasks necessary to achieve your goals.
