First a little about who I am and why I got started in my Team Beachbody business…
This is one of my main sources of income and has truly been a blessing to me and my family, both physically and financially. I spent the majority of my life as a California Firefighter where I worked in the Bay Area. I did this job for over 20 years. Since firefighters have so much time off, I always had some kind of home-based business on the side. We got started in the network marketing industry in 1992 because we wanted to have Angie, my wife, to be able to stay home and raise our two children.
I also learned and became very good at how to use home-based business tax strategies to keep more of my hard-earned money. In 2001 I started a company called Financial Matters which sold a book and services for home-based business owners and taught them, in a simple way, how they could bring home more of their hard-earned money and be able to use it right away to better build their business.
I won’t bore you with all the details, however, due to some large receivables that were owed to us, my partner and I had to shut down Financial Matters in 2004. This opened up another door for me in that one of the companies we were servicing liked what I did for them so they offered me a job as their Director of Global Marketing. They were a network marketing nutritional company called BodyExtreme. After a lot of thought, we decided to go for the journey and I quit my job as a firefighter in August of 2004 and moved to the Boise, Idaho area.
When I started with Body Extreme they were bringing in about 40 to 60 new distributors each day. I worked my butt off, with no budget and very little money to invest in marketing materials. In fact, I put in my own money ($10,000) so that we could create a marketing DVD.
Long story short here too, Body Extreme could not pay me what I needed so I negotiated a pay per new distributor bonus. I agreed to take .50 cents for each new distributor that came into the company. Two years into my job at Body Extreme, on August 30th of 2006, I had my first day where we broke over 500 new distributors were coming in each day. As you can imagine, my bonuses were bigger than my $65,000 base pay. The original owners had also sold the company to a group of five men - of which the majority of them were clueless on how to run a network marketing company. One of the new owners also had some grandiose idea about implementing a new genius comp plan he proudly stated that he paid over $250,000 for. He thought it was going to be the thing that would take the company to the next level - which I told Mr. Shelby Langston, that it probably wood - to the next level down. Shelby Langston’s flawed compensation Plan was designed to take money from leaders and give more of it to the distributors that were making small checks. I tried to inform Shelby and his partner in crime at the time, and Body Extreme’s Director of Finance, Decker, that this was not a good idea.
Anyway, on August 30th of 2006 I was thanked by Shelby and Decker by being brought into the conference room where Decker fired me. I was was in total disbelief! Here I had almost single handedly taken this company and increased sales by 900% - with no budget and using my own money. I have never been fired in my life! Boy was I pissed at those guys.
So here I am, 47 years old, out of a job, no formal education in marketing though I had spent tens of thousands of dollars on learning marketing from the likes of Jay Abramson, Alex Mandossian, Corey Rudl, Frank Kern, Eben Pagen, and many others. Frankly, learning marketing from these guys is 100 times better than anything I would learn in a College class.
So, long story short here as well, I did a lot of research in looking for a good MLM company to join and settled on Team Beachbody (Million Dollar Body) in October of 2006. I was one of a handful of experienced network marketers who was brought in to team a handful of Beachbody Coaches on how to do network marketing. Team Beachbody was launched in April of 2007 - and we quickly went to work living off savings, and our equity line.
All I can say is that thank God I got fired! It was the toughest year of our lives, but we made it and are doing better than we have ever done in our lives.
In August of 2007, we had our first month where we made over $10,000!* Then this August (2008) we had our first month where we earned over $10,000 in a single week between both of our Team Beachbody businesses.* August seems like it is becoming the month for me to experience significant positive change.
In January of this year I earned the title of Team Beachbody Top Coach and won a trip to Hawaii for my wife and I. Because of the money we make we stayed a few extra days and even took our kids with us. This is truly an amazing company.
Anyway, if you are looking at starting your own home-based business, or network marketing business, then, of course, I highly recommend Team Beachbody, and I would love to be your Coach!
